Canningvale Bonnie Sue

The matriarch of the Kohatu Partnership is Canningvale Bonnie Sue. Foaled in 1984, Sue is the dam of Bunratty Bridgette, but only came into the care of Kohatu several years after Bridgette started the whole ball rolling by producing Moonshadow.

Sue is closely related to the stallion Sun-n-Air of Summer Valley. Both are by Chiltern Sunsilk (imp UK), and are out of half-sisters.

Sue was a regular breeder for two other studs before she came to Kohatu. She has 9 purebred foals to her name - 8 of which are daughters, and only 3 are grey (all have been by grey stallions). She has left some very good performance proven progeny, and two of her daughters have already bred on. Sue does not look, or act, her age, and didn't seem impressed when told she was a great-grandmother.

For Kohatu, Sue has produced three fillies by Lonsdale Moonwind, we are particularly pleased with her 2007 foal.

In both 2006 and 2007, the Champion Purebred Connemara at the Royal New Zealand Show was a daughter of Sue's - Bunratty Bridgette took the title in 2006, and Timaunga Skylark in 2007.
