Newlands Gideon

Newlands Gideon is the sire of Kohatu Dark Isle (ex Biwmares Madonna) and was bred by the Rowe family, of Mt Moriac, near Geelong in Victoria, Australia. Newlands Gideon was sold to Dylanglen Stud of NSW, not long after Maddy visited with him.

Gideon appealed as a mate for Maddy was because his breeding introduces 3 new much needed bloodlines to NZ (and of course we had our fingers crossed for a stud quality colt). As important as his genetic inheritance however, is his wonderful temperament and that he is more of the type of Connemara pony that we already have in New Zealand, than that of the more 'modern type' ponies now seen in Australia.

Gideon has a son, Newlands Flanagan, being run on as a stallion prospect in NSW.
