Biwmares Madonna

Maddy is a young mare that was on track for a successful competitive career in showjumping and eventing in Australia before she was injured in a freak accident that left her with a visual impairment. Whilst a tragic shame for her owners, this meant that a wonderful young mare became available for breeding many years earlier than she otherwise would have.

Maddy was put to the stallion Newlands Gideon before leaving Australia. This breeding produced a filly in late February 2006; Kohatu Dark Isle.

Maddy, although owned by us, was primarily purchased to introduce new bloodlines to New Zealand, and consequently has been leased to other breeders to expand the NZ genepool. Continuing with our 'sharing' philosophy, Maddy is presently living at Windward Stud in Lyttleton Harbour, where she produced an upstanding 2008 colt foal, by Lonsdale Moonwind, for them. Excitingly, she is currently in foal to Churchway Daybreak, which will provide them with a foal with truely unique bloodlines for NZ. It is our intention that Maddy will return to Kohatu after this foal has been weaned.

Both of Maddy's foals are Crème Dilute, as is Maddy herself (through Kirtling Haze). As both the stallions to which she has already foaled are greys, her grey status is not presently known.
