This started out as a 'Links' page, until we realised that none of our friends currently have websites that work. So, instead its now somewhere to put all those other things that don't really fit anywhere else. If you want us to include a link to your site, drop us a line, and we'll consider it.
Windward Connemara Pony Stud BlogIncluded here you may find almost anything that we didn't think was appropriate to include in our main pages (probably due to its capacity to either bore, offend, or overload your dialup connection). This will be a 'work in progress', and things will be added as time and enthusiasm allow.
A bit about this site itself: the border pattern down the left side is a traditional Maori 'Kowhaiwhai'. For more information on this design, and why we chose it, read this.
Photo galleries and assorted other visually pretty things are high on the list, but the thought of sifting through several thousand insipid photos to find the few of any quality is just too daunting right now.
I'd also like to include a map of New Zealand here, just to show you how far and wide the Kohatu ponies are spread. I'd have to include a map of the world to show how far the Kohatu partners are currently spread, as Erica is resident in Colorado until August 2008 (hurry back Erica, your pony is waiting for you).
The following photo galleries are 'relatively' small - I can load them at home on our ricketty rural dialup, BUT they do require Macromedia Flash to be installed. These galleries use SimpleViewer - a really nice piece of Javascript written by a very clever person - I was just going to toss a bunch of pictures on a page, but I think this is so much nicer.
So here's our gallery of assorted other photo's that we didn't use elsewhere:
And another gallery. Fuglies - we've all got them (don't try and deny it). Whether its the awkward yearling, or the cross that you thought would be fantastic that turned out.. 'interesting'... This is a collection of BAD photo's of good ponies, and good photo's of ponies going through bad phases. I was talking to one of the countries top Arabian breeders - actually, I was apologising for the scruffy nasty little weanling that I was pushing up the ramp onto his truck. Said weanling was going through one of those hidious phases where his back end was about 4 inches higher than his front, his neck was weedy, and his coat could have been borrowed from a Bison. I said, this is where you really want to put the pony out in the far back paddock, so nobody can see it, including you. He said, yup, but its usually the same animal that you pull out of the back paddock 6 months later, and it takes Supreme Champion at a national show... So, for all you other breeders out here, here's our:
And, for those who's internet connections allow it, try this for fun:
